The Traverse City Dance Project is 75% funded. (!) This project is how I will be developing my thesis this summer, building a new work based on modern concepts of American identity, using Martha Graham’s Appalachian Spring as a reference point. See a clip of Spring here. This was Graham’s America… what is mine? Yours?

Traverse City Dance Project

Brent Whitney was my first friend in NYC. He says I was his too. I met him at Steps on Broadway in the summer of 2007, and we have been through so much together… but nothing like the Traverse City Dance Project!

This July, five years after our first meeting, Brent and I are teaming up to bring a group of 10 amazing dancers to create, investigate… and sweat! The result will be a performance of 4 exciting works, including 2 world premieres. Choreographers include myself, Brent, Australian-born and Hong Kong-based choreographer John Utans, and Mauro de Candia, recent winner of GENESIS, Milwaukee Ballet’s International Choreographic Competition.

WE ARE EXCITED. Check out these links to join in the adventure with us!

See my work at the Laguna Dance Festival! TONIGHT!

At the invitation of Jodie Gates, the amazing director of the Laguna Dance Festival, I am showing a new work, Dance for Two at the Laguna Dance Festival tonight. The dancers are Jessie Ryan and Vincent Hardy, two fabulous performers!

Two performances: the Laguna Art Museum at 6:45 and [seven-degrees] Art Gallery at 7:45. This is part of the Laguna Art Walk, so it should be a fun and exciting night out!
